King Tut

March 12, 2010

This morning I went to SF with the boys, my parents, and my Aunt Sue to see the King Tut exhibit.  The trip was supposed to be a Christmas present for my aunt from my parents and I weaseled my way in.  What can I say, the archaeologist in me is still clinging on despite my change in career.  Unfortunately the De Young doesn’t allow photography in their exhibits.  Way to ruin my fun!  Here are some pictures waiting around.  Not as exciting but they will do.

Grandma!

They love their Aunt Sue!

After seeing King Tut we checked out the exhilarating Amish quilt exhibit.  In a room off to the side they had these puzzles where you could design your own quilt.

Job wanted his all black.

The quilt exhibit was quite exciting! These ladies do everything by hand and their work is very detailed.

Paradise Falls

March 8, 2010

Yesterday we decided to go on a hike.  I heard about a little place called Hidden Falls up in Auburn.  It was a short easy little hike to the marginally impressive falls that is very dog friendly.  Unfortunately Jerah is not a good hiker.  He fights every step of the way.

See his dirty tear stained face?

To make the trip more fun we told them we were visiting Paradise Falls.  Ever seen UP?  If so you’d get the reference.  Job told everyone we met that we were looking for Kevin at Paradise Falls.  Cute (and obnoxious, lol).

Your boys are so lucky to have such adventurous, outgoing parents! They get to do and see so many fun things!

Grain

March 2, 2010

I love film.  I love the grain, the emotion, the essence.  I was really itching to shoot a roll yesterday so I busted out the old pentax I got from my father in law, found some film I had lying around and took the boys to the park.  Now I have no clue where I got this film from or how old it was.  All I know is that is came from walmart…which is funny because I don’t shop there!  It was also in color…so I probably  commited a sin by bringing the film scans in photoshop and converting them to black and white.

I left one in color.  ;)

These last two were taken at safeway.  I’m always surprised by the amount of homeless people in Davis.  It seems to shiny clean on the surface but its really not.  I almost missed her walking into the store…she was tucked into such a small area by the mail boxes.

Fieldtrip to Capitol Aquarium

February 23, 2010

The boys LOVE fieldtrip days…especially if they involve animals!  This morning we went to the Capitol Aquarium in Sacramento.  Even though its just a store they have a huge collection of fish and things to look at.

This boy will not look at the camera!  Even when he asks me to take a pictures (he wanted one with the fish, aka Moby Dick II).

The sign on this guy’s tank said he likes to be teased…so teasing they did!  “R” (on the ground) is hiding…he would jump up with silly faces.  I’m not quite sure that is what the sign meant.

WPNS parents: I’m working on the rest of the pics.  ;)

Mustard!

February 22, 2010

Last week we visited St. Helena to eat the awesome food and take pictures in the mustard.  I was playing with my processing a bit (something that I don’t typically do with my client work)…which is why the look and feel of these are all over the board.  Enjoy!

BTW, I am not above bribery.

Growing up

February 18, 2010

My babies are 4!  They’ve been this way for a week and a day.  We had their birthday at the Explorit Center in Davis.  Here are some random shots.

Yesterday the boys and I went to St. Helena with Nicki, Isabella, and Anderson.  I haven’t gotten to those pics too much yet but here is one to hold you over.

Looked like a great birthday party! Lucky boys :)

Best. Cruise. Ever.

February 9, 2010

Ahoy there mateys! This post is going to be a doozy. We just got back from a week long cruise aboard the Oasis of the Seas, aka the biggest and newest cruise ship in the world. This is what it looks like:

We spent the trip (courtesy of my parents) with my brother Kris and his wife Megan.

Here are some random pictures from our trip, starting with the airport, lol.

Did I mention this boat was huge? It has a frickin zip line!

There were several pools.

You can also find two rock climbing walls, an ice skating rink, and this cool surf simulator.

(picture coming soon)

Luckily this wasn’t an omen of what was to come.

Again, did I a mention how big this ship was? At port in Florida looking down from the top deck.

Another awesome part of the cruise was all the great shows they put on. There was a great aquatic show called Oasis of Dreams.

Check out how strong this chick is!

The ice show was amusing to watch. It was going well until the ship really started to move. Lets just say there was a lot of face plants going on towards the end of the show.

The trip was part of a client apprieciation program of one of the vendors my parents’ business deals with. They had four receptions on the trip… meaning lots of free booze!

Dinner was awesome every night and our waiter was top notch.

I have no clue what my brother was doing, lol.

I got a lot of scenic shots in. Here is leaving Florida.

The first island we hit was St. Thomas. Here is the view from Water Island.

img_1571web

We took a mountain biking/snorkeling excursion around Water Island while we were in St. Thomas. Unfortunately evening though they called it a snorkeling excursion they didn’t provide the snorkeling gear like most places do. I had grand ideas of taking underwater pictures but without a mask there was no way I was going to open my eyes in salt water. It was still a fun trip though.

img_1580_1web

We also did a bit of shopping on the main island.

img_1593_web1

The next day we hit the island of St. Martin. Here we did a fantastic zip line excursion. Rope bridges, ladders, zip lines…totally awesome and loads of fun. Unfortuantely I couldn’t bring my camera on that because I needed both hands. Afterwards we did a bit of exploring around the island as well.

img_1703_1web

We read a local paper while having lunch. They had a “best of 2009″ section where people had voted for their favorite restaraunts, etc.

Burger King won for best burger joint…

img_1696_web1

…and Dominos for the best Pizza on the island, lol.

img_1699_1web

The final island we hit was Nassau in the Bahamas. This was my least favorite island. We couldn’t go ten steps without people trying to get us to rent scooters or sell us bracelets, t shirts, or drugs (“green or white?!?”). Here are all the boats lined up in port.

img_1568_2web

Aaron’s lunch consisted of fried snapper. Literally.

img_1581_1web

img_1590_1web

That just about sums up the trip! It was a great time and something I would love to do again. Now its time to get back to reality of rainy weather, three meals a day, and actually having to work.

Megan! These photos are so great… and that one of all the ships in the Bahamas is unreal! Looked like you had such an amazing time… can’t wait to hear more about it! Man, I wanna go now!!

Explorit

January 22, 2010

Its been raining here lately so we’ve been stuck indoors.  I promised Jerah a fun day on wednesday so we went to the Explorit Science Center here in Davis.  As expected the boys had a blast.

Their favorite activity was this wind tunnel.  They had so much fun watching the parachuters fly up.

Job had an obsession with gears lately

They had this bike thing that you turn with your arms.  The skeleton on the monitor was mimicking his movements.

Jerah was thrilled about being able to touch a walking stick

Jerah didn’t quite get how to use a telescope

The other big thing was launching rockets.  Too much fun!

love seeing how excited and curious they seem to be about learning and doing stuff! Smart boys they are!

January 10, 2010

This evening we went for a geo caching trip on bikes around south Davis.

inspecting their loot

Finally the boys started to get bored

So we went and got food using our coolest find yet…free food at Cafe Italia!

Bev posted the following on January 13, 2010 at 8:08 pm.

What a nice smile Aaron has! We need to go geocaching with you guys sometime… especially now that we got our bikes!!
